In October 2024, David was finishing up his last semester of college at the University of Arkansas and Lauren was working back home in Colleyville, TX after graduating from Baylor University in May. David drove all the way from Fayetteville, Arkansas to meet Lauren for their first date. David’s first question to Lauren was what she liked to do for fun. To which Lauren jokingly responded by saying she liked to “throw rocks at things and watch paint dry.” So after they had lunch and took a walk in the park, David suggested they throw rocks. Little did Lauren know, he kept a rock. From that day on, David drove to see Lauren every weekend before he graduated and moved back to Dallas. They continued to date and fell in love. Months later David showed Lauren the rock that he saved from their first date. Since then, they have picked up and kept a rock from their anniversary and again when David proposed on November 8th, 2025. Their little tradition will continue as they collect them from the most important moments and milestones of their lives for as long as God permits them to do so. In the hopes that one day, they can look back at their collection of rocks as reminders of how their first silly conversation went on to lay the foundation for a lifetime they got to spend together.
